1. Why has CMW stopped the BBM consumer service for Android & iOS?

Instant messaging is a very fluid and competitive market. Since 2016 we have tried our best to compete in this market and launch many new features and content that we had hoped would grow the BBM user base. Despite all of our efforts, we found that the network effect of the market leaders is getting stronger and we have been squeezed out of user preferences.

 

 

2. Will the BBM messaging service still be available on my BlackBerry device?

CMW only operates the BBM Consumer service for devices using Android and iOS. The announcement of the BBM Consumer service closing down for devices using Android and iOS will not have any effect on the BBM service operating on BB10 and BBOS devices as that services is operated by BlackBerry Limited and will continue.

CMW is independent of BlackBerry Limited and only licensed the BBM Consumer service for Android and iOS from BlackBerry Limited.

 

 

3. When will my BBM cease to operate?

BBM Consumer for Android and iOS will continue to operate up to 31st May 2019, after which time the application will stop working.

As an alternative, BlackBerry Limited has launched BBM Enterprise (BBMe) which can be used on devices using Android and iOS which users can download. 4. I have bought stickers, can I download them?

BBM Stickers live inside BBM, unfortunately we cannot export them outside BBM. However, you can issue refunds of your in-app purchases as per Apple App Store or Google Play store documentation.

5. I have BBMoji, can I still use it?

BBMoji services is tightly integrated with BBM, so you will not able to use BBMoji after 31st May 2019. BBMoji purchases are not refundable.

 

 

6. Will I still able to access BBM Services?

Indonesia services:

• BBM Dana is not accessible after the BBM service shuts down. You can instead download the standalone DANA App on Android or iOS to continue using DANA balance and services.  Your DANA balance still remains in your DANA account. The transition is simple: download DANA App, login using the same phone number in BBM and the same PIN number you used for your DANA account, then you will get your Dana balance and do transactions.

• BBM News is not accessible after the BBM service shuts down.  We recommend you to use the Kapan Lagi Youniverse news aggregator called Potret App, available on both Androidand iOS.

• BBM Sport is not accessible after the BBM service shuts down, but you can access bola.comto get sport news and schedules.

• BBM Vidio and Live TV are not accessible after the BBM service shuts down, but you can directly access all Vidio content on vidio.com or download the Vidio App on both Android and iOS.

• Users will not be able to shop on Bukalapak through BBM after shutting the BBM service shuts down.  You can directly access bukalapak.com for your daily shopping or download the Bukalapak App on both Android and iOS.

• BBM Kupon is not accessible after the BBM service shuts down.   You can directly access lakupon.com to continue to get great value coupons.

• BBM Karir is not accessible after the BBM service shuts down.  You can directly access karir.com to get the latest job openings.

• BBM Polls is not accessible after the BBM service shuts down.

7. What about my current Rewards & Value balance?

Your existing rewards need to be redeemed by 20th May 2019, or your accumulated points balance will be forfeited with on the BBM service shut down date of 31 May, 2019.

 

 

8. What about my current DANA balance?

Your DANA balance still remains, you can download the standalone DANA App on Android and iOS to continue using DANA balance and its services. The transition is simple: download DANA app, login using the same phone number in BBM and the same PIN number you used for your DANA account, then you will get your DANA balance and will be able to do transactions.

 

 

9. What happens to my data in the BBM application?

• Photos, videos and files shared through BBM: This content is available for download directly from the BBM application prior to closing the service.

• Contacts: Your contacts cannot be exported from the BBM application.

• Feeds: Your feeds cannot be exported from the BBM application.

Once the BBM service is shut down, you will not be able to open BBM on your device to see any old or new messages, or retrieve asset files.

 

 

10. What happens to my data stored in the BBM servers?

Please note that CMW does not store your messages (chat) or asset files as they are stored in the BBM application on your device. Messages and asset files such as photos, documents and videos are only stored on the BBM servers until they are downloaded by users. If not downloaded within 7 days, these messages and asset files are then deleted.

Once the BBM service is shut down, you will not be able to open BBM on your device to see any old or new messages, or retrieve asset files.

Once the BBM service is shut down, we will be deleting other data such as channels and feeds which is stored on our BBM servers within 7 days of the service shutting down, other than data we are required to keep for legal reasons.  However, the process to delete data from our Cloud infrastructure will take up to 180 days.

Today we’re announcing that we will be closing BBM consumer service on 31 May 2019.

Three years ago, we set out to reinvigorate BBM consumer service, one of the most loved instant messaging applications, as a cross-platform service where users can not only chat and share life experiences, but also consume content and use payment services.

We poured our hearts into making this a reality, and we are proud of what we have built to date.

The technology industry however, is very fluid, and in spite of our substantial efforts, users have moved on to other platforms, while new users proved difficult to sign on.

Though we are sad to say goodbye, the time has come to sunset the BBM consumer service, and for us to move on.

We are grateful for your support and wish to thank everyone, especially our users, partners, and employees, for being part of the BBM consumer service journey.

We hope you will cherish many fond memories of BBM consumer service that helped shape messenger platforms to become what they are today.

Newest BBM Brings @Mention Feature in Group, Video Post in Feeds for iOS, and More!

Hello @BBMers! We’ve got some exciting features to share with you today, from the capability to directly mention members in Group to more, fun ways to reply in chat, post in Feeds, and invite Friends to BBM. So be sure to upgrade your favorite messaging app in Google Play and App Store.  Read on for more details  about our most exciting, new features below.

 

Capture the attention of specific individuals in Group with @Mention feature

Group conversations are part of our everyday lives as we connect with our core and extended family, colleagues in multiple department, and friends in the same community. So how do we ensure that our important information will reach specific family member without being lost from other newer messages? How do we refer a colleague to the right person in charge? Simply tag the member(s) by using our newest @Mention feature!

Start by typing @ along with the first few letters of the name to have the recommended list appear on top of the chatbox. The @Mention feature can also be used when you reply messages and when you send image, video and document in BBM Groups. The member you tag will have an @ icon follow by the number (depending on how many times you mentioned the member) when he/she enters the group. Tapping on the @icon will directly show your chat.

 

Share your favorite moment or funny clip through Video Post in Feeds (iOS)

This highly requested feature was first available in Android, but now iOS users can also upload and view video post in both Feeds and Timeline (your profile or friend’s profile). This gives iOS users greater variety to express themselves and update their life events through a combination of text, classic BBM-emoji, image and now video.

Start off by clicking on “What’s on your mind” to see the Create Post screen, then click on the media icon. You’ll start in the image gallery by default so switch to the video tab. Choose any video, enter any caption (optional) and click “Done” once you finish.

 

Freedom to write/share longer status update in Feeds and receive notification! (Android)

We’re no longer restricting you to squeeze all your thoughts and feelings under 160 characters. Now we’ve extend the limit to 65,000 characters, allowing you to write descriptively until your heart’s content. It’s perfect for sharing long, inspirational messages or copying & pasting important information from a website.

Best of all, now you’ll never missed out on any interaction that happens around your status. You’ll receive instant notification on your phone when someone likes or comments on your status. But just in case you’re not a fan of receiving this push notification, we’re also giving you the freedom to adjust based on your preference. Simply check out the “Feeds & Timeline options” under the  “Notifications” setting.

 

Have more fun with your replies by using sticker, BBMoji, image and video!

At BBM, we’re always asking ourselves “How do we make chatting feel like it’s the closest thing to being there in person?” Since it can be difficult to reply words with well…words, we’ve added four different options to expressively share your response. For both Android and iOS users, you can choose from our thousands of stickers and even your own personalized sticker, BBMoji, to reply to text bubble, sticker bubble and BBMoji bubble. Specifically for Android users, you can even add image and video to respond to text bubble.

 

Invite your Social Circle on Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp to BBM

If you’re enjoying BBM and like the new features we’ve been promoting on our recent release, be sure to tell your family and friends about it! We’ve made it easier for you to invite them on Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp. On the ‘Contacts’ tab, select ‘Invite friends to BBM’ to see all the available options, which will depend on which apps are downloaded on your device. We’re counting on you, our loyal BBM users, to spread the word around!

New BBM Update brings PIP Mode for Video Call, Image Editor, Chat List Improvement and New Navigation!

Happy New Year 2019 to all BBM Users! We’ve made tremendous progress in 2018 by releasing BBMoji, BBM Desktop, Group War and more! But now we’re looking ahead with our first update of the year and we’re excited to share the numerous features we’ve created to improve your experience on BBM! Read on for details, or check the preview in the “What’s New” section in the App Store (coming soon!) or Google Play when you download the new version.

Multitask away with the new Picture in Picture Mode for Video Call (Android only)

You’re catching up with your family or spending quality time with your special someone in a video call when suddenly a notification diverts your attention. Now on BBM, you can check say notification or chat with your other friends on BBM without hanging up the call. It’s perfect for multitasking!

Simply hit the back button during a video call and the screen will be minimized. To make it more convenient, the minimized video call will stick to one of the four corners of your phone, leaving most of your screen free to do any activities.

Grow your group by inviting family and friends outside of BBM (new on iOS)

To make our new 500-member Group easy to fill with your loved ones, we first added an option for other members to send group invites without admin approval. Then we added the option of sharing QR Code for easy scanning to users on BBM. Now we’re extending the invitation to non-BBM users with the Group invite link. The moment you make a new group, you’ll instantly see a “View invite link” offer to copy or share the link to your social circles outside of BBM.

Admins who already have a group can check the Invite Link by clicking their Group name/avatar and selecting ‘Invite to Group via link.’ You’ll then have a choice to either create, copy, share or remove the link. When a contact from your Phonebook joins BBM, you’ll receive a notification so you can start yapping away.

Personalized your image directly on BBM with the new image editor

Now both Android and iOS users can save time by directly editing their image on BBM before you send the picture. Add more creativity as the new image editor lets you choose from 12 different colors and various brush sizes for you to freely write or doodle away. We’ve been having fun with this feature by drawing a blue afro on our friend. It’s also been super helpful to point out which clothes our family should buy. To make it even more convenient, we’ve also added the capabilities to crop & rotate the image.

Improvements to Chat List: Pin your favorite chat and mark as read

Reserved the top spot on your chat list for your favorite group or special someone by pinning their chat. This new feature allows you to pinned up to three chats on top for easy and quick access to chat with the person or group you most frequently communicate.

If you are involved in many groups but have very little time to read them all, then you can mark the chat as read without opening each one. Both the pin chat and mark as read features can be access by long pressing on a chat.

Simpler navigation: New ‘Calls’ tab lets you make calls easier

Calls will now occupy the 2^nd tab of BBM, showing your history of missed, incoming and outgoing calls. You can also access the contact picker directly by clicking on the blue phone button. The change to make Calls more prominent will eliminate the hassle of entering a chat just to call your family and friends. Also as part of the new navigation, Contacts will be moved to the fifth tab. If you want to access the More tab, you can simply click your avatar icon on the top left of any tab.

BBM News Mencegah Hoax dengan Berita

Menjadi pintu terakhir dalam menyeleksi berita-berita yang akan dibaca oleh jutaan pengguna BBM di Indonesia bukan perkara yang mudah. Untuk itu, BBM merekrut para jurnalis handal untuk mengkurasi berita yang akurat, aktual, dan tidak mengandung SARA dan Hoax.

Sejak hadir menemani pengguna BBM di April 2017, BBM News telah menjadi salah satu fitur favorit. BBM News menyajikan berbagai berita beragam, mulai dari isu-isu sosial, gaya hidup, teknologi, travel, dan tentu saja isu nasional seperti politik dan kriminal.

Internship di BBM: Apa Kata Mereka?

Sejak akhir 2018, BBM kantor Jakarta membuka kesempatan bagi mahasiswa tingkat akhir dan baru lulus untuk mendapatkan pengalaman kerja di BBM dalam program internship. BBM membuka kesempatan internship di berbagai divisi, dari marketing, finance, human resources hingga engineer.

Magang di BBM memberikan akses kepada staf intern untuk belajar langsung dan mendapatkan bimbingan dari berbagai pimpinan yang telah berpengalaman di bidangnya. Berikut cerita dari mereka tentang serunya internship di BBM:

Laurencia Bernadette Yokung (21), mahasiswa tingkat akhir Universitas Pelita Harapan mendapatkan kepercayaan untuk membantu tim Product Marketing dalam project Group War, salah satu fitur unggulan BBM di 2019. Lauren mendapatkan pengalaman berharga ini sebagai staf intern BBM.

internship adalah salah satu hal penting bagi mahasiswa tingkat akhir ataupun baru lulus untuk mendapatkan pengalaman kerja. Sebagai pengalaman pertama bekerja di sebuah perusahaan, seorang intern akan mendapatkan skill dan pengalaman yang berharga.

Keputusan Lauren untuk bergabung dengan BBM sangat tepat, karena di BBM ia bisa belajar banyak hal, mulai membantu mempersiapkan marketing sebuah produk secara end-to-end, hingga soft skill seperti bagaimana melakukan komunikasi lintas departemen sehingga membuat kerja di BBM sangat konstruktif, transparan dan efisien.

“Saya bersyukur saya dikelilingi oleh rekan-rekan kerja yang mau meluangkan waktunya untuk membantu saya dan menciptakan suasana yang nyaman untuk saya bisa belajar dan bekerja sebagai seorang Intern,” kata perempuan asli Surabaya, Jawa Timur ini.

Hal yang sama dirasakan Dassa Putra Bagaskara (22), mahasiswa fresh graduate Universitas Pancasila, Jakarta. Walaupun BBM perusahaan multinasional yang beroperasi di seluruh dunia, namun memiliki basis startup yang cukup kuat.  

Di BBM, Dassa bekerja di divisi marketing dan membantu tim untuk merencanakan, mengeksekusi, dan mengevaluasi berbagai kegiatan marketing BBM. Dassa dikelilingi oleh tim dengan jiwa milenial sehingga membuatnya mudah berbaur dan merasa nyaman melakukan internship di BBM.

“Lingkungan kerja BBM yang berjiwa milenial dan berbasis startup membuat saya banyak belajar di sini. Saya dapat bertanya dan mendapatkan pengetahuan dan arahan langsung dengan orang di berbagai level, dari Staff hingga Chief,” katanya.

Dendy Suprihadi (23) bergabung sebagai internship full-stack engineer pada November 2018 lalu. Sebagai engineer, Dendy bertanggung jawab mengelola website perusahaan, mengembangkan fiturnya dan memperbaiki bug jika ada.

Dengan budaya kerja BBM seperti agile development dan pair programming, Dendy dapat bekerja dengan nyaman namun tetap dapat menyelesaikan pekerjaan secara tepat waktu. “Suasana kerja di BBM membuat karyawan terus produktif,” katanya.

Marsya Khairunnisa (22) fresh graduate psikologi Universitas Gunadarma, sangat senang dapat bergabung dengan divisi Human Resources BBM. Sebagai perusahaan besar, BBM memperhatikan hal-hal kecil namun bermanfaat bagi para karyawan, seperti sarapan gratis setiap pagi, cemilan yang tersedia di ruang break-out, hingga kegiatan karyawan selepas kantor seperti Yoga.

“Sebagai internship HR, tugas saya membantu proses awal perekrutan karyawan. Dengan berbagai fasilitas dan budaya BBM ini membantu saya untuk mencari kandidat karyawan BBM, terutama milenial. Karyawan milenial sangat memperhatikan berbagai fasilitas dan budaya kerja perusahaan, dan BBM sangat cocok bagi tempat kerja para milenial,” tutupnya.

BBM Bersama CIAYO Comics Luncurkan Layanan Comics di Indonesia

Lebih dari 170 komik terkenal seperti Si Juki, Rumah Mice, Patrick Jonbray, dan Si Nopal telah tersedia di aplikasi BBM

Jakarta, 31 Oktober 2018 – BBM dan CIAYO Comics hari ini mengumumkan kerjasama untuk meluncurkan layanan BBM Comics untuk pengguna Indonesia. Saat ini telah tersedia 170 judul komik digital yang dibuat oleh para illustrator Indonesia dan akan terus meningkat hingga 300 judul komik digital hingga akhir tahun ini.

Penggemar komik dapat menemukan layanan Comics di dalam BBM tab DANA. Saat memasuki menu Beranda, pengguna BBM langsung melihat berbagai rekomendasi komik di Pilihan Editor, Rilisan Baru untuk melihat edisi terbaru komik dan Segera Rilis untuk melihat jadwal komik yang akan tersedia di BBM Comics.

Di dalam menu Komik, pengguna BBM dapat mencari komik favorit mereka, yang terdiri dari 8 genre – romance, comedy, horror, slice of life, drama, action dan special. Koleksi komik selalu diperbarui secara berkala, sebagian besar dilakukan setiap minggu oleh ilustrator terkenal seperti Muhammad ‘Mice’ Misrad dan Faza Meonk.

Users can donate in denominations from Rp10,000 to Rp 1 million to help victims in Palu and Donggala

Jakarta, October 12, 2018 – BBM has started a fundraising campaign today to help survivors in Central Sulawesi. From 12 October to 31 October, members of the public can make their donations via “Pulihkan Palu Donggala” in BBM.

Pulihkan Palu Donggala is a joint initiative by Emtek, BBM, BukaLapak, SCTV, Indosiar, KapanLagi Youiverse and DANA together with Yayasan Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih (YPP).

How to Donate

Users who want to make a donation can:

• Open the BBM App or click here
• Click on “Pulihkan Palu Donggala” icon in DANA Tab
• Select donation in denominations of 10.000, 50.000, 100.000, 250.000, 500.000, 1.000.000 and the payment can be made via bank transfer, credit card or DANA balance.

According to The Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) on Thursday, October 11, the death toll has risen to more than 2,000 people, with over 10,000 people injured,16,000 people have been displaced by the quakes, and about 2.4 million in Donggala and Palu will need humanitarian aid.

Donations collected through this fundraising campaign will be channeled cumulatively with donation from other communities, and distributed by YPP, which has been coordinating efforts to bring emergency reliefs such as food and blanket distribution for Palu, Sigi and Donggala communities; food distribution and health care services for earthquake victims in Lombok. Donors will able to view distribution aid activities through YPP website and on Liputan6.com.

Menurut data Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB) (11/10), jumlah korban meninggal terus meningkat hingga lebih dari 2.000 orang, dengan lebih dari 10.000 orang luka-luka, 16.000 orang kehilangan tempat tinggal karena gempa bumi, dan sekitar 2,4 juta orang di Donggala dan Palu membutuhkan bantuan kemanusiaan.

Donasi yang terkumpul dari kampanye ini akan disalurkan secara kumulatif dengan donasi dari masyarakat lainnya yang dikirimkan melalui Yayasan Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih (YPP), yang telah mengkoordinasikan upaya membawa bantuan darurat seperti distribusi makanan dan selimut untuk masyarakat Palu, Sigi dan Donggala, serta distribusi makanan dan layanan perawatan kesehatan bagi korban gempa di Lombok. Kirim Uang Melalui Chat

BBM sekarang secara resmi menjadi aplikasi chat pertama di Indonesia yang menghadirkan fitur transfer uang antar teman melalui chat!

Dengan menggunakan DANA di BBM, sekarang Anda dapat mentraktir teman dan keluarga Anda untuk makan di restoran, membelikan hadiah, pulsa telepon, dan lainnya. Penerima juga dapat menggunakan uangnya untuk membeli paket data dan telepon, membayar tagihan (listrik, air, cicilan, BPJS Kesehatan), membeli voucher Google Play, atau menarik saldo DANA secara langsung ke rekening Bank (ATM Bersama) Anda.

Untuk dapat menggunakan fitur ini Anda harus mengaktifkan DANA melalui tab DANA, dan mendaftar sebagai akun premium.

Saat Anda mau Kirim Uang, ikuti langkah mudah berikut:

1. Buka layar chat dengan orang yang Anda mau kirim uang, lalu ketuk tanda “+”
2. Pilih menu “Kirim Uang”
3. Masukkan jumlah uang yang mau Anda kirim, dan tambahkan pesan yang ingin disampaikan
4. Masukkan PIN untuk verifikasi transaksi
5. Semua sudah selesai, uang sudah masuk ke dalam saldo DANA teman Anda.

Pengguna akan menemukan tab Discover telah berubah menjadi tab DANA, dengan bagian terpisah antara DANA dan layanan BBM lainnya. Kami membuat perubahan untuk membantu pengguna menemukan berbagai layanan DANA yang telah tersedia.

Layanan DANA saat ini muncul di bagian atas layar, tetapi Anda dapat memindahkan layanan BBM yang Anda suka untuk ditempatkan di bagian Favorit di atas (khusus Android). Untuk melakukannya:

• Buka tab DANA / Discover dan pilih Edit di sudut kanan atas
• Ketuk tombol merah “-” untuk menghapus layanan dari Favorit.
• Ketuk tombol biru “+” untuk menambahkan layanan ke Favorit.

Setelah Anda menempatkan layanan yang paling sering digunakan di Favorit, Anda akan dapat mengaksesnya lebih cepat!

 

Mainkan DANA Kaget

DANA Kaget atau Lucky Money adalah fitur menarik bagi pengguna BBM untuk berbagi uang dengan komunitas dalam grup chat BBM. Anda dapat membagikan uang secara acak ke beberapa anggota, dan jumlah yang diterima setiap anggota grup akan berbeda – membuat DANA Kaget ini menjadi fitur yang menyenangkan dan menarik bagi komunitas Anda.

Cara untuk bermain DANA Kaget sangat mudah:

1. Buat grup chat bersama teman-teman Anda (maksimal 300 pengguna)
2. Ketuk ikon “+” di grup chat, lalu pilih “Dana Kaget / Lucky Money”
3. Masukkan nominal yang ingin Anda bagikan dengan grup Anda
4. Gambar amplop akan muncul di grup chat Anda. Anggota grup chat Anda harus menekan gambar amplop dengan cepat untuk meraih DANA Kaget / Lucky Money

Mengubah Latar Belakang Chat (khusus Android)

For Indonesia: Send Money via Chat

BBM is now officially the first chat app in Indonesia that enables peer-to-peer money transfer via chat!

Now you can pay friends and family for shared restaurant bills, gifts, phone vouchers, and anything else. The receiver can use the funds to buy talk time or internet data for their mobile phones, pay bills (electricity, water, installments, BPJS health insurance), get a voucher for Google Play, or cash out their DANA credits from their bank account (ATM Bersama) instantly.

To enable the feature, you must first activate DANA via the DANA tab, and register as a premium user. (No fee required.)

When you want to send money, follow these easy steps!

1. Open a chat with the person you want to send money to, and click the “+” icon.
2. Select Send Money.
3. Input the amount you wish to send, and add any comment.
4. Enter your PIN to verify the transaction.
5. It’s all done!

DANA Kaget or Lucky Money is an exciting feature for BBM users to share money with their community in a group chat. You can randomly share money to several members, and the amount received by each member would be different – making this fun and intriguing for your community.

Here’s how you can play DANA KAGET easily:

1. Create group chat together with your friends (max. 300 users)
2. Tap “+” icon in Group Chat, then select “Dana Kaget/Lucky Money” feature
3. Insert the amount that you’d like to share with your group
4. An envelope banner will pop-up in your chat group. Members in your group must tap on the envelope quickly in order to grab the DANA Kaget/Lucky Money
